Auto Accident Injury Care

A car collision can strain the neck and back in seconds, and injuries like whiplash often take days to surface. Most Oregon auto policies include Personal Injury Protection (PIP) benefits, which cover chiropractic care for injuries from a car accident, regardless of who caused the crash.

Workplace & Workers’ Comp Care

On-the-job injuries range from a single lifting incident to a strain that builds over years of repetitive work. Our work injury chiropractors treat the injury and provide the detailed documentation a workers’ comp claim requires.

Personal Injury Care

Sports injuries, slips and falls, and other injuries outside of a car or job site still deserve a full evaluation. As a personal injury chiropractor practice, we identify what was damaged and build a plan to rebuild strength and range of motion.

Dr. Michael Malone, DC

Chiropractic Physician

I graduated from Western States Chiropractic College in 1999. As a former semi-pro soccer player, I understand how important chiropractic care is for athletes. In 2005, I received my Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician credentials.

I believe that being a chiropractic physician at Graffeo Accident & Injury Clinic is a calling which allows me to meet and serve people of diverse backgrounds. I enjoy every aspect of my work from helping a little child at their first visit to making life-changing improvements in someone’s health.

In my spare time I enjoy kayaking, traveling, and watching football with my wife and son.

What to Expect

Care at Graffeo follows the same four steps, whether your injury came from a collision, a job site, or the soccer field:

  1. Consultation. We start by understanding what happened, what hurts, and how the injury is affecting your work and daily routine.
  2. Physical exam. We assess the injured area, your range of motion, and any pain that radiates beyond the original site.
  3. Imaging, if needed. When a closer look is warranted, we arrange X-rays or refer you for an MRI before recommending treatment.
  4. A personalized treatment plan. Your plan is built around the injury, your goals, and the demands of your job or activity — and, when applicable, the requirements of your claim.

Injury cases carry paperwork that ordinary care does not. We document every visit thoroughly, submit records to your insurer, coordinate billing, and work directly with personal injury attorneys and workers’ comp adjusters when your case calls for it. That documentation protects your claim while you focus on healing.

Frequently Asked Questions: Accident and Injury Care

Who pays for chiropractic care after an accident?

It depends on how the injury happened. After a car accident, most Oregon auto policies include Personal Injury Protection (PIP), which covers chiropractic treatment regardless of who caused the collision. On-the-job injuries are typically billed through workers’ compensation. For other personal injuries, care may be covered by health insurance or through a settlement. Graffeo Accident & Injury Clinic verifies your coverage before treatment begins and handles billing directly, so you know what’s covered before your first visit. Call (503) 255-5522 to confirm your benefits.

How soon after an injury should I see a chiropractor?

You should see a chiropractor as soon as possible after an injury, even if the pain feels manageable. Soft tissue damage, joint misalignment, and nerve irritation often take hours or days to produce symptoms, and delayed treatment can turn a short recovery into a long one. Early evaluation also creates the medical record that insurers and attorneys rely on when a claim is filed. Our Portland clinic accepts walk-ins and prioritizes seeing accident patients quickly.

Do you provide documentation for insurance claims and attorneys?

Yes. Every visit at Graffeo Accident & Injury Clinic is documented with exam findings, treatment notes, and progress reports that meet the standards insurers and personal injury attorneys expect. We submit records directly to your insurer, coordinate billing, and work with your attorney’s office when your case calls for it. For workers’ compensation claims, we complete the reporting that your employer and claims adjuster require.

What types of injuries does Graffeo Accident & Injury Clinic treat?

We treat injuries from car accidents, workplace incidents, sports injuries, and slips and falls, including whiplash, back and neck pain, sciatica, joint injuries, and nerve pain radiating into the arms or legs. Our Portland chiropractors have handled accident and injury cases for more than 45 years, serving patients across NE Portland, Gresham, Rockwood, Troutdale, and Fairview.
